Statement from Kristopher Jacks, Chair of Our Revolution Weld County

Thank you for this opportunity to address the recent videos depicting me, Kristopher Jacks, in a very negative light.

First and foremost, to my family, friends, supporters, and everyone else in the movement fighting for a more just society, I am deeply sorry. I have caused all of you so much pain and worry, so much extra work, and I have made everyone’s efforts harder. Please accept my sincere apologies.

I reject violence and extremism in all forms. I do not support the disgusting and disgraceful comments made in those videos in any way. I have advocated every day for the last four years for a peaceful, political revolution based around advancing policies that would improve the lives of every American, regardless of background, belief, or affiliation. I have called out the violence being done to the weakest and most vulnerable people in our society, at home and around the world. Violence is not and will not be the answer.

While the comments made are my own, they have been deliberately distorted and fraudulently edited. A widely discredited, convicted fraudulent source baited me into discussing hypothetical, worst case scenarios, and well beyond those worst cases, and pushed me into some very dark conversations – conversations I never should have engaged in. What is missing from the video are the many times that I informed this individual that this is not who I am or what I am about.

I would like to thank my family, my friends, and the Progressive Community in Colorado, and across the country. The outpouring of love, support, and solidarity with me is beyond overwhelming. So many of you have reached out to support me in this difficult time. It is very easy to destroy someone’s reputation, but it is a lot harder to rebuild. But thanks to all of the support, compassion, and encouragement I believe we will all come out of this stronger.

To that end, I hope the entire activist community will learn from this. Guard your words. We live in the best of all possible times; when through our words alone we can change the world. But it’s too easy to twist those words into something that you don’t stand for. So protect yourself. Also, protect each other. Don’t hesitate to speak up and speak out when someone is out of line, no matter who it is. But most importantly of all, trust your gut. I knew something was off with this person from the beginning, but I was more concerned with being polite. If something feels wrong, it’s because it probably is.

Finally, I would like to thank local law enforcement for taking this matter seriously to ensure that the community, and myself were safe. I have been cleared of any wrongdoing, and no charges whatsoever have been brought against me.

I cannot take back the things that were said or the damage done, but I hope this can shed some light, and serve to teach others.

Peace, love, and happiness to you all,

Kristopher Jacks
